2013 for Studio Ghibli

An Amazing 2013 with STUDIO GHIBLI.

A Bit of News for your reading, we are set for an Amazing year this year.

NEWS** from anime anime japan.

Twenty-five years after it released two of its most beloved and critically acclaimed films in the same year, Japan’s legendary anime production Studio Ghibli Inc. is set to offer its legion of fans a similar double treat in 2013.

Ghibli has announced it will release “Kaguya-hime no Monogatari” (The Tale of Princess Kaguya) by Isao Takahata and “Kaze Tachinu” (The Wind is Rising) by Hayao Miyazaki in summer 2013.

The releases will also mark the first time in 25 years that Ghibli has released two films by the anime maestros in the same year. In 1988, Takahata’s “Grave of the Fireflies” and Miyazaki’s “My Neighbor Totoro” were released as a double feature.

However, the summer 2013 release will differ in that it will be the first time the anime studio has released two feature-length films on the same day.

“Kaguya-hime no Monogatari” is Takahata’s first work in 14 years after “My Neighbors The Yamadas.” It is based on a Japanese folktale of “The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter,” or “Princess Kaguya,” which follows a mysterious girl who is found inside a stalk of bamboo and eventually returns to the moon.

“Kaze Tachinu” is Miyazaki’s first film in five years following “Ponyo.” The “Spirited Away” creator also wrote the screenplay based on his own story ideas.

The story is inspired by a novel of the same name by Tatsuo Hori. It follows the life of Jiro Horikoshi, an engineer who designed the Zero fighter, the mainstay of the imperial Japanese military during World War II.
